The GMC Acadia is a crossover SUV manufactured by the American automobile manufacturer General Motors. The GMC Acadia succeeded three large cars in the GM portfolio when originally released on the market in 2006. The Acadia is still a pillar of the GMC brand today, serving as the go-to crossover SUV for GMC fans worldwide.
History of GMC Acadia
GMC Acadia First Generation (2007 - 2016)
Lansing Delta Township Assembly Plant (Michigan) used to build the Acadia crossover SUV but has since moved production to Spring Hill, Tennessee. As GMC's first entry-level SUV, the Acadia replaced the Safari van, Envoy, and Montana SV6 when it arrived on the market in the United States in December 2006. Because of its time, it was also GMC's first front-wheel-drive passenger car and the American company's first crossover SUV. Acadia's V6 made 275 hp when it initially arrived in the Acadia's first generation. The direct-injection 3.6L V6 with 288 hp output debuted for the 2009 model year. The Acadia Limited variant has a 310 hp V6 by 2016 while still in its initial generation. 2011 Acadia Denali vehicles were equipped with this upscale trim option when first launched in 2010.
Four-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, a honeycomb grille, chrome highlights, and other aesthetic components were all included in this model level. As the Acadia Limited, the first-generation Acadia was available alongside its second-generation version.
GMC Acadia Second Generation (2017)
On January 12, 2016, the second-generation Acadia made its formal debut at the North American International Auto Show. In May 2016, GMC released the revamped Acadia as a 2017 model. Spring Hill, Tennessee, is home to second-generation Acadia. Throughout the 2017 model year, the older Acadia was marketed in addition to the new model, "Acadia Limited." Despite its appearance, the 2020 GMC Acadia is not an all-new generation but rather a significant mid-cycle facelift of the 2017 Acadia. GMC redesigned the mid-size crossover's front face, added Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and replaced the old engine with a turbocharged engine, new alloy wheels, and the all-new AT4 package. The Acadia lost its lowest SL model for 2022 but got a brand new standard turbo engine with a nine-speed automatic gearbox.
Price
GMC sold the 2022 GMC Acadia with an MSRP of $35,945 for the base price. The company also offers different trim levels and prices:
- SLE - $35,945
- SLT - $40,195
- AT4 - $42,495
- Denali - $47,695
Features
Interior Features of GMC Acadia
The interior of the GMC Acadia reflects the brand's philosophy of bridging the gap between standard and luxury. It's more upscale than some of its more popular rivals but not nearly as luxurious as more expensive leading SUV companies. In the first two rows, the inside is efficient and spacious. However, because this SUV is on the lower side of mid-size SUVs, the third row and load compartment are slightly cramped. The cabin can become relatively luxurious as you progress through the model line, particularly in the Denali model. A heated steering wheel, heated second-row seats, and wireless charging are among the luxury interior options of the Acadia Denali. Several options, including adaptive cruise control and a sunroof, are optional, even on the Denali.
Exterior Features of GMC Acadia
Despite its minimalist appearance, the GMC Acadia's exterior design is unique. It's elegant but not over-the-top, and the style may alter based on the trim you select. The exterior of every Acadia is well-decorated, from the rugged AT4 model to the premium Denali trim. Considering its upscale appearance, the Acadia manages to convey the toughness that is so characteristic of the brand.
Additional features of the model are as follows:
- A 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 engine
- Pro Safety Plus package
- Automatic emergency braking
- Automatic high beams
- Front pedestrian braking
- Parking sensors
- Lane-keeping assist with lane-departure warning
- Forward-collision alert
- Lane-change alert
- Rear cross-traffic alert
Specs
