The Hyundai i30 model is a small family car produced and sold by Hyundai, a South Korean car manufacturer, since 2007. In the United States and Canada, the i30 is sold alongside the fifth-generation Hyundai Elantra, first as the Elantra Touring and then as the Elantra GT.
History of the Hyundai i30
Hyundai i30 First Generation (FD; 2007–2011)
Hyundai's Design and Technical Center in Rüsselsheim, Germany, was the birthplace of the first generation i30. For the 2008 model, the i30 was awarded a 4.2 out of 5 in Euro NCAP crash testing, an upgrade over the 3.9 it received in 2007. Australia's New Car Assessment Program has given its full five-star safety rating to Hyundai's i30 sedan. In Argentina, the i30 has been awarded the safest imported mid-size car. In Malaysia, Hyundai unveiled the first-generation i30 in July 2009 with a 1.6L (manual and automatic) and a 2.0L (manual and automatic) engine choice (auto only). The carmaker released the first i30 model at just the appropriate time. In 2007, it was one of the finest automobiles in the compact-segment category. Hyundai-Kia debuted the i30 and cee'd models just before the global financial crisis brought the automobile industry to its knees. They used the same platform, and buyers in the small market liked the new look.
Hyundai i30 Second Generation (GD; 2011–2016)
At the 2011 Frankfurt International Motor Show, Hyundai introduced a new i30. Because of an improved 1.6L diesel engine with CO2 emissions below 100 g/km developed and developed at the Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Centre in Rüsselsheim, the all-new i30 provides four engine options with a total of 6 power modes. The five-door hatchback version of the third-generation i30 went on sale in Europe in early 2012. It is made at the company's production site in Nošovice, Czech Republic.
Hyundai i30 Third Generation (PD; 2016–Present)
At the 2016 Paris Motor Show, Hyundai debuted the all-new third-generation i30. They launched the "Cascading grille" design language for the brand with this vehicle. As the 2018 Elantra GT, it was introduced to the North American market in 2017. Hyundai has standardized the i30 Fastback's front appearance for all i30 models for 2019. The Elantra was replaced by the Hyundai i30 Fastback in European markets until the end of 2017, unveiling it at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The i30, Hyundai's tiny hatchback, got a new design approved by Peter Schreyer in February 2020, following a successful debut in 2016. Peter Schreyer, a former Audi-Volkswagen designer, was in control of the Kia-Hyundai lineup after the Korean business acquired it in 2006. Sales of these two brands skyrocketed as a direct result of his design innovations. He also gave the i30 makeover another go.
Price
Hyundai retails the i30 model with a starting price of $23,720 for the base model that goes up to $53,500 for the top-spec model.
Features
There are a lot of design variations between hatchbacks and sedans, not just on the exterior but also on the interior. The i30 and Elantra are offered under different names in different countries. A 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster may be seen in high-end sedans, compared to a 7.0-inch display in the hatchback. This model also has new door and dash shapes and even a new grade-specific steering wheel. This is a more cutting-edge design in general. Both models have a considerable quantity of storage and are well-built, but there are still signs of cost-saving materials throughout the construction process. Even though the hatchback has a panoramic roof, the sedan is a touch short on headroom—even if it doesn't have it. With an 8.0-inch touchscreen, you get a reasonable amount of screen space, a decent amount of reverse camera video, and physical shortcut controls for different functions. The wireless charging pad is on a platform at the bottom of the center stack, and there are two cupholders and a large bin along with the center console. The 600ml bottles sit in the door bottle holders. For a front-seat passenger of the same height, 180 cm is sufficient for a person of a certain stature. Even though the floor is mainly level, there is a surprising amount of legroom in the rear. Rear-seat passengers get air vents, bottle holders in the doors large enough for a 600ml bottle, and a fold-down armrest in the center with cupholders, but no USB outlets are provided here. You can secure a child seat to one of the three top-tether anchor points. Both outboard seats are equipped with ISOFIX points. The revised bumper on the 2020 i30's front has a more elegant look. Hyundai added a new mesh design and a bigger grille. The carmaker also incorporated a new set of LED daytime running lights into the headlights. Except for the N-Line, which had a black mesh front, the remainder of the line featured traditional, chromed components. The LED graphics on the taillights have been updated.
Release Date
Hyundai released the first-generation i30 model in July 2009 in Malaysia. For the latest model year, the carmaker released the 2022 i30 model on January 7, 2021.
